Mandatory Credit: Kyle Ross-Imagn Images Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid drew a $50,000 fine for a lewd gesture during Friday's game against the Boston Celtics, the NBA announced Sunday.
The incident occurred with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter of the Sixers' 109-108 home loss, when Embiid scored while getting fouled. He then made a chopping gesture to his groin.
Embiid, 31, has been fined for the gesture multiple times, including $75,000 in December 2024 and $25,000 in January 2023.
NBA executive president and head of basketball operations James Jones announced the fine.
Embiid will sit out Sunday's road game against the Brooklyn Nets as he continues to recover from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in April. In four games this season, the 2022-23 MVP and seven-time All-Star is averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 22.3 minutes per game.
